Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar packed
1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 cup chocolate chips
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
3. In a large bowl use the electric mixer to combine the butter with both sugars; beat on medium speed until light and fluffy. Reduce speed to low; add the salt, vanilla, and egg. Beat until well mixed, about 1 minute.
4.Add flour mixture; mix until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
5.Batter should make 16 good sized cookies. Take dough into a ball and split it in two. Continue to split the dough balls into 2 until you have 16 equal cookies.Place dough balls on 2 baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
6. Bake until cookies are golden brown around the edges, but still soft in the centre, 8 - 15 minutes depending on your oven. (the school ovens need 15 minutes at least).
7. Remove from the oven and let cook on the baking sheets for 1 or 2 minutes. Transfer parchment paper to counter and let cool completely. (about 10 minutes)
